If you’re looking for a dance competition that focuses on group routines, runs smoothly, and treats your dancers fairly, you’re in the right place.
That’s Showbiz has been running for over 15 years. We focus on group dance, and we run events across the UK every autumn leading to finals in Blackpool and even an international finals event in Madrid.
Here’s why so many schools choose That’s Showbiz every year.
1. Only Group Routines
We don’t run solos or duos. That’s Showbiz is a group-only competition.
That means everything we do is designed to make group dancers feel like the main event — because they are.
You don’t get lost in long schedules full of solos. You get:
- A high-energy day
- A well-paced event
- A stage that’s built for your team to shine
2. We Match You With Similar Schools
We know your training time looks different from the school down the road.
Some rehearse once a week. Some train every day. Some are brand new. Others are seasoned.
So we don’t make you choose your level.
Our judges do that for you at the qualifier.
We place your group into one of three levels based on performance standard, choreography, and training.
Here’s how it works:
- Spotlight – For newer or less experienced groups. Perfect for schools that want a positive, low-pressure environment. Great for teams who train less often or are just starting to compete. The focus is on performance, energy, and enjoying the experience.
- Elevate – For confident, well-rehearsed groups who are pushing themselves. These teams usually train consistently, perform at a solid level, and want feedback that helps them grow. This level is competitive — but accessible.
- Prestige – For elite teams working at a high standard. These groups usually train multiple times a week and bring strong technique, precision, and performance quality. They’ve done comps before — and they’re here to be seen.
You don’t have to figure this out yourself.
You’ll be placed with schools at a similar level.
That keeps things fair — and makes every section stronger.
3. The Path Is Simple
Enter a qualifier. If your routines qualify, you go to the finals.
Our qualifiers run from October to November across the UK.
Our finals happen in January and February at the Blackpool Opera House — one of the biggest stages in the country.
Each level — Spotlight, Elevate, and Prestige — gets its own final.
You know what to expect. You know what you’re working toward.
And your dancers get the reward of performing on a proper theatre stage.
4. We Use Dance Identity for Safety and Fairness
We use a system called Dance Identity.
It helps us:
- Verify dancer ages
- Place routines into the right age categories
- Keep the system consistent across all events
You only register your dancers once.
No repeats. No confusion. No age group mistakes.
It also supports our safeguarding policies.
We know exactly who’s on stage and in the venue — which keeps everyone safer.
5. The Events Are Run Properly
We don’t run hours behind. We don’t keep you guessing.
Our team is organised.
The atmosphere is welcoming.
The feedback is clear and useful.
Schools tell us all the time they feel supported — not just on the day, but all the way through the process.
We keep things simple, fair, and enjoyable. For you and your dancers.
6. We Go International Too
In July 2027, we’re heading to Madrid for That’s Showbiz International — a two-day event at Parque Warner, one of Europe’s top theme parks.
It’s open to schools from the UK, Europe, and beyond.
This is a full-on experience.
Dancers get to compete on a big international stage — and enjoy a trip they’ll never forget.
7. Why Schools Come Back
Here’s what we hear all the time:
“It runs so well.”
“The vibe is great.”
“Our kids love it.”
“It feels fair.”
“It’s just better than others we’ve done.”
You don’t need a huge team or a massive budget.
You just need a group ready to perform — and a teacher who wants a comp that actually works.
